We are Linguists!
Curriculum Intent
At Stoke Heath, languages are seen as a unique part of our pupils’ education as languages are part of the cultural richness of our local community and the wider world in which we live and work. We teach Spanish through a scheme developed by a local school with Coventry children in mind. Learning languages contributes to mutual understanding, a sense of global citizenship and personal fulfilment. Stoke Heath children learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people through an inspiring, engaging and well sequenced learning experience. This will equip the children with knowledge, skills and understanding, both pastorally and academically, to thrive and contribute to life in Stoke Heath, Coventry and 21st Century Britain.
Establishing Spanish in the curriculum

2024 - 2025: Year 3 and Year 4 will follow the teaching sequence for their year group. Year 5 - Year 6 will follow the Year 5 teaching sequence.
2025 - 2026: All year grops will follow the teaching sequence for their year.
